Villers-sur-Mer Beach

The beach at Villers-sur-Mer is at the centre of the world… It is the first French town to be crossed by the Greenwich Meridian! The seaside resort also evokes the Belle Époque with its picturesque villas lining the beach. Its most distinctive feature is the Falaises des Vaches Noires, a geological curiosity dating from the Jurassic period, stretching 4.5 km in length and rising 100 metres high.
For those less keen on history, the beach is the venue for numerous summer events, including the famous Sable Show festival and sports tournaments throughout the summer.

ACCESS
You can reach the beach via Avenue de la République, which runs alongside the sea wall, as well as via Rue Michel d’Ornano and Rue du Général Leclerc. As the latter two streets are narrow, it is advisable to access the beach via Avenue de la République.
You’ll find parking spaces on Avenue de la République and in the side streets, or behind the Casino Tranchant on Place du Lieutenant Fernand Fanneau. A pay-and-display car park is also available on Place Jean Mermoz, opposite the Tourist Office. Further free parking spaces are available in residential areas a few streets away from the sea.

ACCESSIBILITY
Villers-sur-Mer is ‘Handiplage’ certified. Wheelchair ramps and access paths are available during the summer season at the Mermoz lifeguard station.

PETS
Dogs are permitted all year round without restriction at both ends of the beach (from the groyne opposite the Pôle Nautique Villers-Blonville (PNVB) on the western side and beyond the supervised bathing area on the eastern side).
From 15 June to 15 September, dogs are permitted on the beach before 10.00 and after 19.00, provided they are kept on a lead. Outside this period, they are permitted anywhere on the beach without any time or location restrictions.
From 1 May to 15 September, horses are permitted on the beach at low tide, on the foreshore, before 10.00 and after 19.00. Outside this period, they are permitted at any time.
