Théâtre du Champ Exquis
Welcome to the Théâtre du Champ Exquis, a venue dedicated to children, young people and families!
Serving as a performance venue, a centre for programming, creation and outreach, and a Maison des Artistes, a welcoming space for artist residencies and a resource centre for contemporary texts for young audiences linked to the performing arts, the Théâtre du Champ Exquis (TCE) supports contemporary artistic creation aimed at young audiences and fosters encounters between artists, works and audiences.
From October to July, the TCE offers a multidisciplinary programme featuring highlights such as the Ribambelle Festival (for young audiences aged 0–12), held every year in February/March, as well as Un Été Exquis – BEFORE d’Éclat(s) de rue in July.
The Théâtre du Champ Exquis also organises artist residencies, artistic and cultural initiatives, and outreach projects within the theatre, at its Maison des Artistes and across the Caen-la-Mer area.
Its mission centres on three key objectives:
• To facilitate access to culture from a very young age, by encouraging engagement with multidisciplinary art forms.
• Supporting creative work for children, young people and families, and contributing to artistic and cultural diversity.
• Promoting the circulation of works and texts, particularly contemporary plays and children’s literature linked to the performing arts.
Since 2019, the Théâtre du Champ Exquis has held the designation ‘Scène Conventionnée d’Intérêt National: art, enfance, jeunesse’ (Accredited Venue of National Interest: art, children, young people), awarded by the Ministry of Culture, which recognises its commitment to artistic creation aimed at young audiences.
A place for life, creativity and connection, open to all, where the performing arts nourish the imagination, sharpen the eye and develop critical thinking. Whether with family, across generations or alongside the artists, the TCE invites everyone to discover, share and help make our local area a welcoming space for connection and culture.
