Self-guided tour of the Men's Abbey
Dominated by the abbey church of Saint-Etienne, a jewel of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, housing the tomb of its illustrious founder, the Abbaye aux Hommes is a central place in the history and life of the people of Caen.
Accessible rooms: the cloister, the chauffoir, the scriptorium, the main staircase and the gatehouse. The chauffoir and the portery house permanent exhibition spaces, which are included in the free tour. The scriptorium regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, which can also be viewed during your visit.
