[Schools] The Time-Travel Rally
In 1060, William the Conqueror built a castle in Caen, marking the start of many twists and turns for this fledgling town. On this treasure hunt, it’s up to you to piece together the rest of the story, with the help of ‘Time Cards’ and photo challenges!
The treasure hunt begins with a journey into the past, taking you back to the origins of the city of Caen – and indeed the entire region: Normandy.
At the foot of the castle, you’ll learn about the role of the Vikings and William the Conqueror in the fascinating history of the Duchy of Normandy. But we won’t say any more, as it’s up to you to piece together what happens next!
Working in teams, the young people then set off in search of six historic sites in the city centre.
At each of these sites, a ‘Map of Time’ awaits them. Using a game guide, they’ll have to find this ‘Map of Time’, discover the code that will allow them to retrieve it, and complete a photo challenge. All this with a single aim: to correctly piece together the thread of history, from the town’s foundation to its reconstruction after the Second World War, in order to open the treasure chest!
