[Schools] 'Dear Scarf' show
Mam has a daughter; she’s her Môm. She knits her a scarf – a cocoon that is sometimes as comforting as a cosy cuddly toy, and at other times stifling and oppressive. This fabric connects a mysterious mother and her daughter, who is growing up as quickly as the moon rises. Mum learns to cuddle and tell stories as Môm slips through the stitches, knitted both right side up and inside out. From the child’s tenderness comes the necessary separation, the emancipation. But what if the outside world is too harsh?
This show gently weaves together the tender and complex bonds of a mother-daughter relationship.
