I’ve lived by the sea ever since I was a child. I often see seals in the bay. I love these animals with their bright, round, beady eyes that seem to pierce right through you, as if they wanted to talk to us. They’ve come from far, far away… They’ve brought with them all their fantastical tales, including those of the Selkies. It is said that, on certain full-moon nights, seals can shed their skins and transform into humans…
Doux Amer tells the story of our lives… The story of our small and great separations that mark the mother-child relationship, of that passing on of knowledge that gradually shapes us as we discover the world. Do these great departures and returns, these journeys, this separation and this coming of age, not have the – sometimes bittersweet – flavour of bonds that set us free?
