[School children] Visit to the Plan of Rome

At Caen University and just a stone's throw from the château, the Plan of Rome is a unique 70m² model built by Norman architect Paul Bigot between 1900 and 1940. Listed as a historic monument, it depicts ancient Rome in the 4th century AD under Emperor Constantine I, and is the starting point for a virtual reconstruction. Self-guided tours are only available for small groups. Since the model is located on research premises, silence is essential! The model can be viewed at any time during the MRSH's opening hours, Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 20:00 and Saturday from 08:00 to 19:00. From Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, the model is lit up automatically. Outside these hours, you can use a switch to illuminate the model at will. Annual closing: last week of July and first two weeks of August, as well as during the Christmas holidays. Guided tour of P. Bigot's model, audiovisual show, virtual model. Duration: 1 h or 1h30.
