Théâtre marionnettes : Peau d'âne la fête est finie
The Tuesday 12 January at 20 a.m00
Boulevard de Normandie Le Cadran 27000 EVREUX
Dad, Mom, and their daughter… This little family celebrating a wedding anniversary seems so neat and tidy. Mom is cheerful, and the little girl is beaming… Yet Dad, inspired by reading the story of a “pig king,” suddenly undergoes a very strange transformation and is overcome by dark thoughts, so he suggests a “nap game” to his daughter… Building on this plot—which resembles the original tale at the outset—Marie Dilasser and Hélène Soulié offer a uniquely different sequel. The party is over!
%AB The party is over %BB, but the show goes on. Suddenly, the fable takes a different turn. The little girl is no longer alone; she finds attentive listeners by her side—characters straight out of other fables and firmly rooted in the 21st century. They hop into a bumper car.
There’s a trans donkey, a blue-haired grandmother, a stepmother, a doctor, and an eco-conscious Sleeping Beauty. They’re a little punk, a little queer. Their names are Francis or Monique Bergamotte, or even “The Ugly One Who Sleeps Outside.”
From Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm to the films of Jacques Demy, the donkey—whose story has been told for centuries—has been a resilient character. Marie Dilasser and Hélène Souliès offer a reimagined and updated version. A modern-day *Peau d’âne*. Funny, provocative—no doubt—but this response is on par with the excess of the original tale, in which it was nothing less than a father (admittedly a king) who wanted to marry his own daughter.
