Twins, Alma and Mathéo, grow up with their deaf mother. Faced with the authoritarianism of the world in which they live, the brother and sister become estranged: Alma becomes a figure of resistance, whilst Mathéo becomes one of collaboration. Through a family saga where politics intertwines with poetry and dreamlike imagery with nightmare, they encounter a cast of characters mired in the world’s violence.
