Screening of films by Benjamin Genissel

As part of the exhibition at the Centre culturel des fosses d’enfer, Benjamin Genissel will be joining us in person to present two of his short films, which form a diptych. What makes them special? They are ‘photographic films’, created primarily from still images, accompanied by a voice-over (Justine Haelters), an original musical score (Ludovic Hacout and Nicolas Mauduit) and meticulous editing (Virgile Guihard).
On the programme for the screening:
‘La lumière de l’Est lointain’ (2016, 19 mins): the diary of a young photographer travelling through Asia (Japan, India, Korea, Thailand, etc.).
‘The Glimmers of the Ordinary West’ (2026, 20 mins): his very latest, previously unseen work, offering a retrospective reflection on his daily practice of photography in France and Europe.
Two beautiful visual journeys to discover together, followed by a relaxed chat with the director.
