A little-known artist, Pierre Girre (1901-1990), better known by his pseudonym Pierre d'Avesn, was responsible for many of the glassware designs commissioned and produced by French glass and crystal manufacturers.

In Normandy, from 1936 to 1940, he worked for Verlys, the glassworks in Les Andelys, where he created various forms of vases and tableware in molded pressed glass, decorated with geometric lines and stylized motifs, thus contributing to the rise of modern design and the democratization of glass art.

Following the recent discovery of several drawings by the artist, the Musée du verre François Décorchemont is presenting them in its graphic art cabinet, alongside objects produced by Verlys.
