Norman Wardrobes
The Friday 04 December at 20 a.m00
Auditorium du Conservatoire Espaces André Malraux 5, esplanade François Rabelais 14200 HEROUVILLE-SAINT-CLAIR
Opening the doors of a Norman wardrobe often promises a wealth of emotions, stories, secret drawers and hidden treasures.
With their powerful lines and impressive size, these majestic pieces of furniture, which found their way into Norman homes from the 18th century onwards, were an integral part of family life. How much they have in common with the double bass, which, like its furniture cousins, reveals itself to us as imposing and majestic. The desire to share the intimacy of this instrument, with its earthy and rich tone, was born in the minds of five double bassists – artists who teach in Normandy, but not only there! Bernard Cochin, Clémence Gaudin, Dominique Digne, Hubert Deflandre and Josselin Chéri invite you to discover some facets of the vast and often little-known double bass repertoire. From jazz to classical, via chanson, contemporary music and traditional world music, the double bass knows how to find its place and even make itself indispensable. Together, with joy and poetry, we’ll ‘shave our cabinets’ as they say in musical jargon!
