Musique : Echo(s)
The Thursday 04 February at 20 a.m00
Théâtre Legendre 27000 EVREUX
An all-female a cappella vocal quartet united by a shared desire to “create today, working with contemporary composers and exploring new artistic territories”… Missions accomplished and goals achieved for this concert, aptly titled *Echo(s)*. The Sedna Quartet, which we’ve already had the chance to see—and above all, hear—at the last Les AnthropoSce?nes festival, displays a very broad musical palette, spanning time and geography, with a clear inclination toward explorers and innovators.
While some of their selections—such as Francis Poulenc, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Zoltán Kodály, and Luís de Freitas Branco—were born at the end of the 19th century, Florestan Labourdette was born more than a century later…
The same is true of the musical and geographical worlds presented here. We thus move from the message of peace in “Earth Song” by the American Frank Ticheli to “Salve Regina” by the Spaniard Javier Busto, from the unique worlds of the Finn Einojuhani Rautavaara to the American minimalist David Lang… From the Armenian music of Arthur Aharonyan to the Bulgarian roots of Petar Liondev and the Japan of Ko Matsushita…
An eclectic journey, presented by musicians eager to share their curiosities, facilitate discovery, and shatter a number of clichés about “the” or “these” contemporary music(s), regardless of the labels applied to them.
A performance presented by Tangram, the national theater company
A cappella singing workshop: Wednesday, February 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Le Cadran
