Musique : Bowie symphonic
The Tuesday 06 April at 20 a.m00
Boulevard de Normandie Le Cadran 27000 EVREUX
A %AB symphony orchestra without a rhythm section %BB offers a fresh take on David Bowie’s musical world. The idea is original and ambitious, befitting the artist’s body of work. In an atmosphere that draws inspiration from opera, yet without artifice, it is Bowie’s music that is celebrated here in all its grandeur.
Whether as Major Tom, Ziggy, or the White Duke on stage; as a British soldier in Oshima’s *Furyo*; Andy Warhol in the Basquiat biopic, or Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese’s *The Last Temptation of Christ*—David Bowie loved duality and the twin-like nature of characters. His physical transformations are etched in our memories. We all, to one degree or another, have a song or an image of the British singer in our minds.
With this reimagined interpretation, we discover another side, another dimension.
The musicians of the Normandy Rouen Opera Ensemble, joined by jazz musicians and conducted by Éric Varion, offer an approach that respects the originals while seeking to highlight the icon’s sources of inspiration. Rock, pop, and jazz, of course, but also more classical influences or connections to contemporary music. Fans will hear their idol’s favorite songs. Others—less familiar with his work but curious—will simply discover a great composer.
