Murano, Un siècle de verre (1920-2020), du 23.05 au 29.11.2026

The Monday 26 October at 14 a.m00

Musée du Verre François Décorchemont Le V@l 27190 CONCHES-EN-OUCHE

Founded on ancestral know-how, Murano glass production in the 20th century was part of a vast artistic modernization movement. From the inter-war years onwards, the opening up of glassworks to designers from the decorative arts and architecture encouraged unprecedented collaborations, marked by experimentation with materials and reinterpretation of traditional techniques. In the 1950s, when Murano?s works were exhibited at the Venice Biennials, this modernity was reflected in a simplification of forms, a quest for purity of volume and an exploration of color and transparency. From the 1980s onwards, the focus shifted to the creation of one-off pieces, conceived as a means of personal expression. Bringing together over two hundred works from public and private collections, the exhibition highlights thirty of Murano?s leading glass artists, from 1920 to the present day.

Exhibition in the Alfred Recours room and the museum chapel.
