%AB I'm fat, a lesbian, and a puppeteer… %BB Right from the start, Lucie Hanoy gets straight to the point—and, as it happens, she loves playing soccer. She goes where it’s uncomfortable, where it itches, where it hurts—even and especially to herself. Lucie Hanoy—whom we can call Lulu—plays without beating around the bush, or hardly at all. She plays, plays with herself, and subverts the game.
The little girl who wanted to be a boy %AB so she could marry a girl %BB has grown up, but she still doesn’t fit into any boxes. She’s too much, or not enough, or not the way she’s supposed to be. With family, at work, among friends—a remark, a glance—and always the same exclusion.
This deeply moving performance blends a one-woman show, puppetry, and, as an accompaniment, a soundtrack steeped in French chanson.
The puppets have become Lucie Hanoy’s closest allies—her doubles and her opposites—to denounce exclusion, express her wounds, and make people laugh—often at herself—with a cathartic laugh and self-acceptance at the end of the… story.
