La Cidrerie – "Potomitan"

Skanda Dance Company

In the Caribbean, the “%AB Potomitan woman %BB” refers to the pillar of the family—the one who supports it. But to what extent can a body stand upright, bear its own weight and that of others, before collapsing?

With *POTOMITAN*, choreographer and dancer Jade Lada pays tribute to her grandmother Denise, a feisty, courageous, and unifying woman. She also explores the cultural and genetic legacy passed down to women—mothers and daughters alike. On stage, the choreographic trio oscillates between intensity and fragility. This powerful, fusion-style dance celebrates journeys of emancipation—fall, support, and momentum—through the lens of memory and the body.

An organic and intoxicating trio that both upends and uplifts.
