Franciscan Sisters on Screen: Marguerite Duras and Cinema

Drawing on writings about cinema, this production presents a Marguerite Duras who is free-spirited, witty and profoundly innovative. A sensitive journey in which words, light and silence come together to pay tribute to her imagination and her perspective on creativity.

Recorded in the early 1980s, these interviews on cinema reveal a little-known side of Marguerite Duras. In them, she reflects on her work as a director, her collaborations with Delphine Seyrig, Michael Lonsdale and Bruno Nuytten, and shares a unique perspective on the gaze, memory, history and the evocative power of images. Led by the actor Renan Prévot, who single-handedly embodies all the voices, the production prioritises evocation over illustration. In a space shaped by the rhythms of light and minimalist set design, the words take on a life of their own and reveal the enduring modernity of Durass’s work.
