Forum – 2026–2027 season | ‘Mermaids, sweat your prayers’ by Justine Berthillot

A choreographed piece for four acrobatic dancers and one opera singer, *Mermaids* transports us into a hybrid, aquatic, pop and interconnected world. Drawing on the inspiring motif of the mermaid and the interweaving of different artistic languages, *Mermaids* crafts an embodied, immersive poem—visual and musical—that oscillates between sensations of disaster and total unity with the cosmos, between nostalgia and futurism.

‘Mermaids’ presents a new myth of the mermaids, a space of symbolic, poetic and political resistance. ‘Mermaids’ envisions new ways of inhabiting the world and possible underwater futures, conjuring up a fluid, transformative and collective utopia through the idea of becoming a mermaid.
