Forum – 2026–2027 Season | Amazigh in situ + OS by Filipe Lourenço & Youness Aboulakoul

A double bill that reimagines the traditional dances and music of the Maghreb in contemporary forms. This production will be staged at the Paris Opera in 2027.

‘Amazigh in situ’, a piece for five dancers, revisits the Ahitous, a form of Berber expression cherished by the people of the Middle Atlas (Morocco) as a means of celebration. The fusion of music and dance reflects a strong desire to modernise ancestral practices and to broaden the imaginative horizons of dance in the Maghreb.

In *OS*, the body sways like a fibre that tenses and relaxes, blending contemporary dance with hip-hop influences. The dancer’s movements harmonise with the rhythm of a musical composition celebrating the gambri, a traditional Moroccan instrument, set against an electronic soundscape.
