Film of the Week – *Le Monde ordinaire*, by Gabrielle Schaff
The Sunday 22 November at 17 a.m00
Les Cures Marines 14360 TROUVILLE-SUR-MER
The Trouville-sur-Mer film club, Ciné Coup de Cœur, organises a unique film screening every month: a major film is shown, followed by a discussion led by a guest speaker. It’s a friendly occasion to share the cinema experience with the very people who bring it to life.
In November, Ciné Coup de Cœur is once again taking part in Documentary Film Month, a national initiative organised by Images en bibliothèques. Following Marcel Ophuls’ *Un voyageur*, presented on 1 November by Vincent Jaglin, a second documentary will be screened on Sunday 22 November at 5 pm at Les Cures Marines.

*Le Monde ordinaire*, by Gabrielle Schaff (2023, 1 hour), a French documentary film.
Adrien is about to turn 20 and has just passed his A-levels. Together with his friends Ninon, Gaspard and other residents of a Parisian psychiatric care home, he is planning to leave the facility, even though he is said to suffer from Peter Pan syndrome and has lived in an imaginary world since childhood. Together, they are preparing to face what they call ‘the ordinary world’: finding a job, studying, falling in love and becoming independent adults, outside medical institutions, in a society perceived as complex or in crisis. Filmed in 2020 in a dystopian Paris, in the midst of a health crisis, the film follows the daily life of a young man who must build his future without really wanting to grow up.

The screening will be presented by the director, Gabrielle Schaff, accompanied by Adrien Liébot, the film’s lead character. A graduate of Paris IV-Sorbonne and La Fémis, Gabrielle Schaff began her career as an assistant director in film before going on to direct her own creative documentaries, which have been broadcast on France Télévisions and screened at festivals. Her ballet-documentary *Symphonie pour hypermarché* notably won the Scam’s *Brouillon d’un rêve* grant and was broadcast on France 3 as part of the *Heure D* slot, dedicated to arthouse films. Her work focuses on marginalised people and explores the links between the individual and the collective. Also a writer, she has published two books that were shortlisted for literary prizes. *Le Monde ordinaire* is her fifth film.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
