Festival Anthroposcènes 2027 : Nos corps empoisonnés
The Thursday 13 May at 20 a.m30
1 Avenue Aristide Briand Le Kubb 27000 EVREUX
On the one hand, Tran To Nga, one of the victims of the world’s most infamous defoliant, with a name as charming as it is deadly: the sinister “Agent Orange,” also known as “Rainbow Herbicide”… The killers have poetic names.
On the other hand, Monsanto, Dow Chemical, Hercules, Maxus Energy, Thomson Hayward… and the list goes on—with even worse examples. Fourteen multinational corporations that, for decades and through deliberate and systematic application, manufactured a poison that killed or permanently harmed some three million people during the U.S. War in Vietnam and caused an ecocide as brutal as it was effective.
It is this unequal struggle that Marine Bachelot Nguyen brings to the screen, retracing the fate of this woman, born in 1942, who was exposed to American herbicide spraying while she had joined the resistance fighters of the National Liberation Front. Later, her first daughter died at 17 months; two others, like her, suffer from serious health conditions linked to dioxin exposure… Today in France, Tran To Nga continues the fight by taking the guilty companies to court. A resistance fighter, even in the heart of the courtrooms.
Alone on stage, Angélica Kiyomi Tisseyre-Se?kine? embodies this struggle. Behind her, a screen displays images of the tragedy. We also see the play’s heroine giving her testimony on camera. %AB “I am 79 years old. We’ve been waiting for this moment for years.” %BB An ordinary victim. An extraordinary woman.
%AB I am here to give voice to the victims—those who cannot speak, those who can no longer speak. %BB
