Or How the Pea Can Save the World (Food, Economy, Soil, Earthworms, and Rock and Roll).

The pea has a huge genome! This claim is surprising enough to leave us speechless and, consequently, to ask ourselves: %AB Can the pea change the world? %BB Or, more modestly, %AB can it change our relationship with the world? %BB With this eighth map in his Atlas of the Anthropocene, Frédéric Ferrer takes a very optimistic view on the subject, even asserting that this legume holds %AB all of humanity’s hopes %BB. Just that!

Frédéric Ferrer feels right at home at Tangram. He has visited on several occasions to present his work. After having, among other things, presented *The Rabbit Problem*, observed that Nicole had messed everything up, and set off *In Search of the Lost Ducks*, he returns this season to present *The Geopolitics of the Pea*, a work that was previewed at the 2026 festival. This is a very serious topic, the result of a study conducted in partnership with the Institute for Research and Development.

As usual, the author and actor—who majored in geography in college (he holds an agrégation !), offers a presentation enriched with expert perspectives, graphs, charts, and satellite images. A presentation as erudite as it is funny—or perhaps it’s the other way around… It covers topics ranging from seeds to canned goods, from manure to frozen food bags… We learn that the pea is not immune to music and that it can practice self-medication! The presentation style is funny, but the arguments are solid, and the ecological issue is addressed with seriousness.

Let’s be clear: The little pea is a big deal!
