At the Château de Carrouges, Alexis Defortescu transforms the garden into an immersive experience where order is thrown into disarray. Between tamed nature and untamed nature, his installation unfolds a suburban landscape that is both familiar and disorienting. Geometric hedges, structured furniture, clean lines: at first, everything seems under control… until nature intrudes and silently upsets this balance.
Through a series of paintings inspired by the Impressionist legacy, the artist blurs the boundaries between contemplation and unease. The visitor moves through a space where the beauty of forms confronts a disturbing reality: that of rising waters and the fragility of our domestic environments.
Created using recycled materials and repurposed furniture, the project is part of a coherent ecological approach, while posing a fundamental question: what remains of our living spaces in the face of natural forces? Blending visual poetry with a sensory alert, this exhibition invites everyone to rethink their relationship with nature and anticipate the transformations to come.
