Danse Théâtre : Le Salon revisited
The Tuesday 16 February at 20 a.m00
Boulevard de Normandie Le Cadran 27000 EVREUX
Following *Diptych* last March, the Belgian dance-theater company Peeping Tom is back this season with their new show, *Le Salon revisited*. Two decades after the premiere and worldwide tour of the original version, the company revisits one of its greatest successes. Three dancers, a singer, and an actor once again blend their disciplines and talents.
This intimate family drama explores the taboos between family members. Four generations live under one roof: a heavy yet invisible legacy takes shape through the performers, who make these unspoken truths tangible through movement. Grandeur is no longer what it used to be. We can sense the splendor of the past, its refinement now crumbling.
While the ancestor still reigns supreme, the central couple explores how to survive this drama, oscillating between collapse and resilience, between grief and unexpected laughter.
Admittedly, the play deals with decadence, intrigues, and family feuds, but in this “reimagined” version—and as in all of the company’s productions—madness and fury burst forth, creating a startling and invigorating sense of vertigo. Humor remains the guarantor of hope for the future.
More than 20 years after its premiere, this “salon” continues to draw on the past and poses a difficult question: Is it possible to learn lessons from the past, or do we endlessly repeat history?
