Camille meets Augustin, her very first love, at the age of 15. When she moves in with him at the farm where he rears pigs, she discovers that the life of a farmer is anything but peaceful. Caught between working in the fields, the daily care of the animals, unexpected health or mechanical problems, and a difficult economic climate, he finds himself in a stranglehold. Very quickly, he is buried under debt. Exhausted by this unbearable daily grind and the lack of support, Augustin, aged 31, took his own life.
Speaking to journalist Antoine Jeandey, Camille bears witness to the misery that has gripped the countryside to the point of killing its sons. How could a passionate and loving farmer have ended up in such a situation?
