Contact Sheets Festival #17 – Interview: Alain and Léo Keler, Generations of Photographers
The Friday 23 October at 16 a.m00
Les Franciscaines – Deauville 14800 DEAUVILLE
What is passed on when the craft of photography is handed down from father to son? A particular perspective, a way of engaging with the world, a sense of rigour, or the desire to break free from it? In a unique dialogue, Alain Keler, a leading figure in French photojournalism and a member of the Myop agency, speaks with his son Léo Keler, who is now developing his own distinctive style within the young collective Hors Format.
As guests at this 17th edition of the Planches Contact Festival, dedicated to generations, Alain and Léo Keler will compare their experiences, their images and their commitments during a discussion moderated by Lionel Charrier, the festival’s co-artistic director and photo editor at *Libération*, alongside Françoise Denoyelle, a leading historian of photography. Spanning family traditions, evolving practices and perspectives on a changing world, this discussion will highlight how two generations of photographers are each devising their own way of portraying reality in dialogue with the history of photography.
