Christmas concert by the Le Cénacle vocal ensemble

The Saturday 12 December at 18 a.m00

Eglise Saint-Martin Rue de la Comtesse de Béarn 14640 VILLERS-SUR-MER

As the festive season approaches, the Ensemble Le Cénacle invites you on a musical journey into the heart of Christmas traditions, blending sacred devotion, folk poetry and childhood memories.

From the moving simplicity of ‘Silent Night’ to the joyful strains of ‘Jingle Bells’, the programme spans the centuries and crosses borders to celebrate the universal magic of Christmas.
Ancient carols from Germany, Spain, Poland, Sweden and France will be performed alongside great popular classics and timeless melodies such as the lively “Un niño nos es nascido”, the tender Swedish lullaby “Jul, jul, strålande jul”, the liveliness of the famous “Carol of the Bells”, as well as the refined arrangements by John Rutter, David Willcocks and Thierry Escaich, which breathe new life into traditional Christmas carols. This musical journey will also take us back to fond memories of 20th-century Christmases: “Petit Papa Noël”, “White Christmas”, “The Christmas Song” and “Somewhere in My Memory”, made famous by the film “Home Alone”. All these musical pieces evoke the warmth of Christmas Eve gatherings and the joy of sharing.

Deeply rooted in Normandy, the Ensemble Le Cénacle brings together five artists, all based in Calvados: Florence Devieilhe (soprano), Marion Jaussaud (mezzo-soprano), Stanislas Herbin (tenor), Fabrice Pénin (baritone) and Gabrielle Valouvin (keyboard). Deeply involved in the local music scene, they apply their high artistic standards to an eclectic and accessible repertoire, actively contributing to the region’s cultural influence.
