Feather plucking is a rare craft that is only passed on orally. There is no written text or technical manual available today.
Worldwide, only one high school in Paris teaches the trade.
Having arrived in France in the 15th century, pluckers have been reproducing the same gestures for centuries, using very few tools: a traditional pair of scissors for trimming, a small curling knife, a small scalpel and a paring knife. Working with feathers requires patience, dexterity, concentration and imagination!
We respect the Washington Convention governing the use of feathers from exotic and wild birds.
In concrete terms, anything that can’t be eaten is forbidden: we have a fairly limited palette of barnyard birds
Anne Kalonji is a feather artist, creating sumptuous combinations of feathers for jewelry.
Under the artist’s expert and benevolent eye, Anne Kalonji gives you the opportunity to approach this beautiful craft by creating flowers with feathers of different colors and patterns.
Let your imagination run wild and take your creations home with you…
