35th Andouille Fair in Vire, Normandy

Every year, the town of Vire-Normandie, situated in the Calvados department of Normandy, is transformed into a veritable temple to local cuisine during the Foire à l’Andouille et produits du terroir (Andouille and Local Produce Fair), organised by the association of the same name. This event, which attracted nearly 5,000 visitors last year, celebrates the authentic Vire andouille, an iconic product of the Normandy region (Vire Normandie is part of the ‘Sites Remarquables du Goût’ federation for authentic, handmade Vire andouille).
As well as andouille, the fair showcases other local specialities. Local producers, along with others from across France, are proud to share their expertise and introduce visitors to their specialities. Stalls run by local producers and tasting sessions are organised throughout the event. Visitors can also enjoy activities for young and old alike, creating a friendly and festive atmosphere:
– Free raffle (based on entry tickets) with three hampers to be won each day.
– Cooking demonstrations with Chef Camille Béhier, alongside Mr Xavier Mauduit and local producers, on Saturday and Sunday at 2.00 pm and 3.30 pm.
– Family cookery workshops (to be won via VFM) on Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 am and 11.05 am with chefs Camille Béhier and Julien Guérard.
– Free face painting for children & candyfloss with Lydyh and Fête et Paillettes throughout the weekend.
– Induction ceremonies into the Order of the Confrérie de la Véritable Andouille de Vire…
– All weekend: barbecue, Breton crêpes, food truck.
– Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes: on the racecourse mezzanine, the restaurant “L’Hôtel de la Place” from Aunay-sur-Odon will be providing the catering.
