Dives-sur-Mer is a seaside resort on the Côte Fleurie coast, with strong historic links with the story of William the Conqueror. Indeed, it was in Dives that the famous Duke of Normandy gathered his fleet before setting off on the Norman Conquest in 1066. Over a stroll through the town, you simply can’t miss the many tributes that remind us of his epic adventure. You can admire a reproduction of part of the Bayeux Tapestry inside the Tourist Office, which is located within the William the Conqueror village of art. The site was once a coaching inn, converted in the 19th century into a surprisingly decorated hostelry.
The Notre-dame church also houses a list of William’s companions who fought in the Battle of Hastings, and the marina, the master’s office of which is decorated with scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry, is referred to as Port Guillaume!
