From medieval fortresses to peaceful thatched cottages, Normandy is rich in castles, châteaux and manor houses.
Our selection
Prestigious remains illustrate the Norman military architecture from the time of the Dukes of England, such as the fortified castles of Caen and Falaise, Château-Gaillard in Les Andelys, Gisors and Harcourt.
The châteaux of Balleroy, Saint-Germain-de-Livet, Bizy, Champ-de-Bataille, Carrouges, the Haras du Pin stud farm and the Manoir d’Ango in Varengeville-sur-Mer are all examples of civil architecture.
These beautiful châteaux sometimes evoke the memory of famous people: Henri IV and Chateaubriand at Fervaques, Michelet at Vascoeuil or Guy de Maupassant at Miromesnil, near Dieppe.
Other castles and châteaux house museums: Caen, Crèvecoeur-en-Auge, Bricquebec, Flers, Dieppe, Eu, etc.
