Tillières-sur-Avre is a typical and picturesque Norman village. The charm and the varied landscapes match the significant architectural heritage: listed church, chateau, medieval gate, half-timbered houses, etc. As early as the 11th century, Tillières played a strategic role by becoming a stronghold that would protect the southern border between the Duchy of Normandy and the Kingdom of France. A village built on the hillside along the river Avre. Besides the omnipresent medieval heritage, the town boasts many wrought-iron shops as well as an imposing sundial next to the Town Hall.

Heritage trail “Au fil des pierres et de l’eau”(Stone and Water Trail) Leave from on foot or by bike, but be careful along the path between No.5 and Rue de Beauvais where the grass path is narrow without any guardrail. There is also a gentle slope between Place Drouard and the castle. Not suitable for pushchairs. Tour length: from 45 minutes to 1 hour. Church and defensive wall lit up in the evening. Brochure available at the Town Hall.
Nature walk “Le bord de l’eau, labeur de l’eau” (Walking by the water, working by the water) Leaving from the lakes with car park Rue de l’Avre (D102) coming from Bérou towards Nonancourt or car park Rue du commandant Galopin (Espace Baron Lacour) coming from Tillières. The walk is not accessible to pushchairs, wheelchairs and bikes. Please wear a suitable pair of shoes: the northern part (Nos. 9, 8, 7 and 6) is often wet and muddy.
