Charming little country village, Valmont has a rich historical and natural heritage: its church, its castle, its abbey and its numerous water mills invite you for a moment of tranquillity...

The source of the valley’s small river can be found at the Vivier pond in Valmont. Surrounded by hundredyear- old trees, the pond was used as a natural fish reserve by the lord of the town’s castle. This area later served as a popular walking place for notable personalities such as Maupassant, Georges Cuvier and Eugène Delacroix. Several small lakes punctuate the valley where it is not uncommon to see unusual wildlife (grey herons, large cormorants….). The river Valmont, on whose bank stood 9 wheat or oil mills, runs as far as Fécamp where it flows into the sea.
