La Batterie du Brulay > "Seeadler"

The Brulay or "Seeadler" battery is located 7 km east of Cherbourg harbor, in the commune of Fermanville.
Built in 1936, it was taken over by the German army during the Occupation and integrated into the Atlantic Wall.
Comprising an observation post and a three-level fire control station, it was equipped with 4 x 1902 model 194-mm guns in tanks on mountings.
It was designed to counter any naval attack and defend the Maupertus airfield.
Decommissioned in the ’90s, it is now an artistic medium for amateur and experienced graffiti artists.
The 7 km “Les Landes” walk (available on Cirkwi) takes you to the heights of Fermanville and the Brulay battery, revealing a breathtaking landscape.
