The oldest parts of the nave date back to the 13th century. It was remodelled in the 15th or 16th century, probably when the tower at the western end of the building was built. The church became too cramped and two side chapels were added in 1866. The ogival vault, replaced by a flat ceiling in the 1920s, was restored in 1948. The stained-glass windows destroyed by the bombing in 1944 were restored after the war.
