Château de Canon

Preserved intact since the 18th century, the Canon estate was founded by Jean-Baptiste Elie de Beaumont, a renowned lawyer of the Age of Enlightenment, whose intellect and personality left their mark on Canon’s architecture and landscape.
Guided tours of the château take place daily at 3.00 pm and 4.30 pm in July and August. (Duration of the tour: 1 hour)
This estate is listed as a Historic Monument and has been awarded the ‘Jardin Remarquable’ label, owing to the exceptional ensemble formed by its formal flowerbeds, wild groves and period architectural features (Chinese pavilions, Greco-Roman temple). Known as a ‘transitional garden’, it is designed in both the French and English styles and teems with a multitude of streams, waterfalls and canals that accompany the visitor. The tour ends in the Chartreuses, a dazzling ensemble of thirteen walled gardens set in a row, entirely planted with perennials. A veritable open-air greenhouse, unique in France.
Also on site: a shop, a tea room, retro games, a playground, and a treasure hunt for children…
