The castle and chapel are inscribed MH (XI-XVI e), they are very rare and significant remnants of the county and duchy of Alencon, emblematic of our region, residence of Peter II of Alençon who created the closed city of Essay and Marguerite de Lorraine for her dowry, then possession of Margaret of Angouleme-Alençon Navarre, sister of Francis I, grandmother of Henry IV, who had created with her husband Charles IV Alencon, the royal abbey of Saint Madeleine Essay in activity until the revolution.
