Vie de la Saffrie Holiday Cottage

Vie de la Saffrie is an eco-friendly holiday home. It is a charming, tastefully furnished studio for two people, situated amidst the countryside of the Normandy bocage in Calvados. Set within a traditional farmhouse, this holiday let is an ideal base for wonderful walks or cycle rides, as well as for drives through picturesque countryside.
Its private entrance, located on the first floor, leads onto a balcony offering breathtaking views of the countryside. The studio has been carefully decorated, combining vintage pieces with works of art. It features a luxurious en-suite bathroom and a simple yet well-equipped kitchen. Our property — adorned with wildflowers, works of art and a pond — features an organic permaculture vegetable garden and a woodland garden. You’ll have a private area in the garden, complete with a bench, table and chairs, where you can relax outdoors and admire the beauty of the sky, both day and night.
We are committed to self-sufficiency and biodiversity (notably through a closed-loop wastewater treatment system) and are delighted to share this experience with you. Come and enjoy the tranquillity of this rolling countryside whilst staying with two creative and environmentally-conscious hosts. To encourage responsible energy use, we charge for electricity based on actual consumption (kWh). We’re building a bright future together and love sharing it with our guests.
Location:
Relax in Montchamp (Valdallière), a peaceful spot off the beaten track. The setting is beautiful and serene in every season. A woodland path runs right behind the gîte, offering views of the ‘Normandy Hills’. Numerous walking and cycling routes wind their way along the winding roads, through the forests and past castles and small villages. Inside the gîte, you’ll find a folder detailing various circular walks as well as other tourist information. Mont-Saint-Michel is an hour’s drive away, as are the vast beaches of Lower Normandy. We are situated on the edge of Suisse Normande, a region famous for its spectacular rock formations and canoe trips on the River Orne. Discover historic towns such as Caen, Bayeux, Granville and Falaise, not to mention the D-Day beaches, situated a little further afield. The town of Vire, a 20-minute drive away, offers all the amenities you need: shops, restaurants, a cinema and a railway station. During the summer season, the region hosts numerous cultural events, local markets and car boot sales.
Treat yourself to some Norman specialities. Back at the holiday cottage, relax on the balcony or in the garden and let your mind wander to the land of the Vikings whilst taking in the Bocage countryside.
