Meublé de toursime > Maison Barfleur

This unique seaside house has a very special and wonderful style. Built in 1885, it was carefully and elegantly renovated in 2021. A historic retreat in the charming fishing village of Barfleur, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France. A dream location, in a peaceful setting between the port and the beach – both just a two-minute walk away. The main beach is just 150 meters away. The scent and sound of the sea envelop the house, making it a truly exceptional place.
Right from the start, we felt that this simple, historic house was something special. It’s part of a group of three listed houses built in the 19th century by a wealthy farmer. Each time his daughters married, he had a house built for them. Thus were born three houses, of which ours is the middle one. From the second floor, you can see the harbor and the sea. The second floor offers an even better view, overlooking trees and bushes.
We were very fortunate to be able to acquire the house with all its furnishings. Many elements still date back to 1885, and many objects, doors and details have remained unchanged for decades. Very little is new, in the classical sense of the word. Much of the furniture comes from our personal collection. Added to this are black-and-white photographs by Max Kling, antiques and local finds, silverware and glassware from the 50s and 60s, design objects and lamps from the 70s? all of which create a very singular mix. As we live in the house for several weeks a year, you’ll find a warm and personal atmosphere.
We’re looking for guests who appreciate this, as well as the exceptional location. If you’re looking for something unique, authentic and unconventional, you’ll feel right at home with us. If you need the biggest, latest flat-screen TV, the best-equipped spa or a fully automated kitchen, then our house won’t suit you.
Our home is a very simple home, one that allows you to slow down and let your mind wander. That’s our luxury. If you’re looking for a different kind of luxury, don’t book with us – you’ll be disappointed.
We don’t have a dishwasher, because that would have meant destroying this beautiful, historic kitchen. Instead, there’s a large, magnificent antique sink, where it’s even pleasant to wash dishes by hand. The staircases leading to the first and second floors are narrow and steep?not accessible to people with reduced mobility. But they are original, dating from 1885, and have seen the footsteps of many generations.
We don’t have a TV, but the Wi-Fi Internet connection works very well, so you can stream everything via a laptop or personal tablet. Apart from that, everything you need for a pleasant stay is present: washing machine, hair dryer, blender, coffee maker, iron, etc.
For those who, like us, appreciate all this, we look forward to welcoming you to our Maison Barfleur.
