LE REFUGE: A Gîte made in Le Camp de Base

WELCOME: Whether you're with friends or family, our 6-person gîte, off the beaten track, welcomes you all year round. The uniqueness of this gîte lies first and foremost in its sleeping arrangements in cabin beds in the alcove of this warm and soothing gîte, which is reminiscent of youth hostels or mountain refuges, thanks to its raw and recycled materials. The refuge is located in the garden of the CAMP DE BASE, a place dedicated to outdoor activities, and gives you access to a preferential rate for climbing, kayaking, mountain biking or trail running, supervised by our instructors.

ONE LARGE ROOM :
It consists of a large room containing the kitchen, a large farm table for meals, the living room and a dormitory. The alcove has 4 cabin beds. 2 double beds and 2 single beds. There is also a bathroom and toilet in a second room. Outside, there’s a covered terrace where you can spend some quiet time in the garden furniture, in the shade in summer, or out of the rain.

The gîte is perched on a hill in the heart of Suisse Normande, with panoramic views over the Rouvre valley, the bocage and fields as far as the eye can see. Situated in the south of Normandy, in the small village of La Pommeraye, home to just under 70 inhabitants, is the BASE CAMP. It sits at the top of a hill at an altitude of almost 300 m, with the Rouvre valley to the east, the Orne valley to the south-west and the Saint Clair forest just beyond to the north. The views from here are impressive, with up to 80 km in the distance. Situated 5 km from Clécy, the capital of Suisse Normande, LE CAMP DE BASE is close to all the region’s remarkable sites: the Rochers des Parcs, the Rochers de la Houle, the River Orne, and the South and West paragliding take-off points. Initially, there was a hangar, which the owners of the site, who are none other than the instructors of LE CAMP DE BASE, completely renovated by themselves, in order to make it their home.

MULTIPLE VENUE :
In a place steeped in history, a former industrial wasteland lost in the middle of the countryside, the large hangar part of which has been renovated into a private dwelling and the offices of this industry of the past have been transformed into a gîte. Further on, part of the garden is reserved for bivouacs, for travellers who sleep in tents or vans, and another part is dedicated to storage rooms for all the equipment needed by the CAMP DE BASE instructors for outdoor activities.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES :
A preferential rate of -10% is offered to people staying in the gîte for booking outdoor activities: the ideal opportunity for you to take part in sporting activities during your stay.
