Saint Nicolas des Bois, at the foot of the Ecouves forest on the southern flank of the massif, escapes the morning mists that are more localized on the plains of Alençon. The morning sunshine benefits the east-facing rooms and allows the activity of the solar water jet of the natural pond, as well as the photovoltaic panels and solar water heater installed on the property since 2007. The pond is home to significant biodiversity, notably with numerous birds and dragonflies, hence the idea for the name "Odonatura." A nod even on your breakfast dishes! The tall trees in the garden are visited by woodpeckers, whose beaks strike the tree trunks that resonate in the distance. A rarer species, the magnificent Hoopoe also lives on the edge of the forest, to be discovered during walks near the accommodation. Wild geese cross the sky and sometimes stop for a few days on a nearby pond.
On a 6-hectare property, two guest rooms are located in an outbuilding of the owners’ house: On the ground floor: breakfast room with a pellet stove and TV. Upstairs: “Magic Night” room (one queen-size bed, one single bed, TV) with an open-plan en-suite shower room (walk-in shower, sink, and toilet). A cot for children up to 7 years old is available free of charge. On the garden level with a separate entrance: – “Une de Mai” room (one queen-size bed, TV) with an en-suite shower room/toilet. – “Lady” suite with a living room (double sofa bed) and shower room/toilet. Upstairs bedroom (one queen-size bed, one single bed). Welcome trays are provided in each room. Terrace overlooking a walled, wooded garden. Unfenced pond with a fountain. Parking and electric vehicle charging station (extra charge). Animals on site: chickens and ducks, horses, pygmy goats, Ouessant sheep. Pétanque court in the village, 300 meters away.
