Nestled in the heart of a charming and peaceful village in the Seine Valley, with its traditional stone houses, lies Le Catenay, a guesthouse just the way we like them! Set on a large property, between a secluded garden and an orchard, bisected by a flowing stream, the nearly two-hundred-year-old farmhouse overlooks this idyllic setting. Laurence has preserved its soul and its charm; she has created a warm atmosphere around a collection of vintage finds (furniture, décor, linens, tableware) with a particular fondness for the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods. You'll be pampered with excellent bedding and thoughtfully designed rooms where nothing is lacking. On the agenda: delicious breakfasts by the fireside, a communal dinner in the orchard, relaxing to the gentle sound of lapping water, or walks or bike rides on the footpath near the property. Located in the Vernon/Giverny-Les Andelys-Gaillon triangle, a superb region with many hidden gems that your host will be happy to recommend. Upstairs, the hallway leads to two guest rooms, each with a double bed and a sitting area: on one side, the "Globe Trotter," inspired by Laurence's travels around the world, with a desk area and a lovely bathroom with a separate toilet; and on the other, the "Gatsby," with its Art Nouveau style: a desk area and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanity, and toilet; it opens onto a very pleasant private balcony, furnished and overlooking the garden, perfect for sunny days. Laurence offers delicious breakfasts featuring homemade treats and quality local products (gluten-free option available) and, upon request, evening meals featuring regional specialties, served either in the elegant dining room or in the garden. A shelter is available for bicycles or a motorcycle, with the possibility of charging electric bikes; two bicycles are available for rent. For bargain hunters, there's a small flea market on site featuring Laurence's personal favorites.
