Take a whole day with your family to come and visit La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg, a must see when in Normandy. Dedicated to man’s adventures under the sea, it has dropped anchor in the fine Art deco Transatlantic liner terminal.
In 2012 La Cité de la Mer was extended, to house a one-of-a-kind exhibition, "Titanic, return to Cherbourg", about the history of European emigration to the New World and about the legendary liner that called at Cherbourg on 10th April 1912. Your visit will take you through the magnificent Art deco Luggage Hall where you will discover the experiences of emigrants, and then you will embark on the area dedicated to the Titanic, in a decor redrawing the three stages of the liner’s last journey: the crossing, the collision, and the sinking of the ship.
In La Cité de la Mer, you can discover the ocean depths on a large scale! During an unforgettable day, full of excitement, you will live through an adventure, you will have fun, you will be filled with wonder, and learn all there is to know about deep-sea exploration, an adventure that is still being played out.
