Discover "Singuliers", the new Imec exhibition at the Abbaye d'Ardenne.
With Singuliers, the Imec's new exhibition, visitors will discover exceptional pieces: Arthur Schopenhauer's tumultuous erasures, William S. Burroughs' collages, Isaac Newton's summaries, Gisèle Freund's small hand-bound albums... A stroke of genius or the ordinary disorder of work...: each time, a body is there, in the archive, untimely, singular, which tells in its own way, if we look at it well, the expectation or the dream of a sharing
It is said that singuli was only said in Latin in the plural. The vitality of a collective or the beauty of a collection is due to this singular plural: a remarkable conjunction that can be discovered in these pieces, so many inventions captured in the material, and which give the measure of time, thought and emotion
An exhibition in partnership with the Martin Bodmer Foundation and the MAMCO. With the notebooks of Etel Adnan, Susan Buirge, Gisèle Freund, Goethe, Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, Wajdi Mouawad, Isaac Newton, Jean Paulhan, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Arthur Schopenhauer, Laurence Sterne, Antoine Vitez..
