In the south of Normandy, visit the church in a former village of blacksmiths. Close to Verneuil-sur-Avre, Saint Martin's Church in Francheville used to belong to the Abbey of Saint Lomer in Blois at the time of the Duchy of Normandy. The nave, the oldest part, still has Romanesque remains in the local "grison" stone. Next to the 16th century choir is a chapel with rib vaults. A door, which has been blocked up, in the southern part of the choir, is adorned with pilasters and a Renaissance frieze representing angels. You can also admire the pipe organ, one of the church's curiosities, as well as its furniture.
