Close to Evreux, visit a Norman Neoclassical chateau. In Normandy, close to Pacy-sur-Eure and to the RN 13 road, visit the Château de Buisson de May. Built in 1781 in a Neoclassical style by Jacques Denis Antoine, a royal architect, the chateau is situated at the centre of the parkland designed with perspectives, rows of lime trees and semicircles.
In 1936, the French Family Allowances Fund bought the stately home and the woods to convert it into a summer camp. It then became an English military hospital before being occupied by the German army. The stately home experienced ups and downs, neglect and pillage.
Listed a Historic Monument in 1994, it has been undergoing restoration works since 1999.
