Situated between Bayeux and Saint-Lô, the Cerisy national forest covers 2,130 hectares and is the largest natural forest reserve located on a plain. This beech forest is now listed, due to the presence of a totally unique species of beetle: the golden ground beetle with copper highlights. An arboretum located near the Embranchement junction also offers an insight into the many other species present in the forest. The Maison de la Forêt et du Tourisme (Forest and Tourism Centre) welcomes visitors and helps increase their awareness of the forest environment via guided tours and educational events.
