In Normandy, bars and beaches go together! Here’s a selection of some of our favourite watering holes.

1.

Goéland 51

It’s hardly surprising that this bar has been classified by the Guardian newpaper as one of the top ten beach bars in France!  Goéland 51 is in Réville, and is a former German bunker with a stunning view of the sea and Tatihou island opposite. It’s the perfect place to spend an offbeat moment with friends, and social networks all tell the same story. You can also enjoy a meal there.

Top tip: Pick an evening when the Goéland (which means ‘seagull’ in French) displays its night plumage, and the whole bar is lit up and hosts concerts.

2.

Au Bout du Monde

You will find Au Bout du Monde (which means ‘to the ends of the Earth”) in between the beach and promenade of Sainte-Adresse, the town next to Le Havre. This lost paradise is surrounded by wild flora and fauna, and you could spend the whole day there quietly supping and drinking while listening to the waves lapping the shore. Ahh, the simple things in life!

Top tip: Head here at the end of the day, grab a deckchair or a seat overlooking the beach, and take in a ‘Made in Normandy’ sunset. Isn’t life good?

3.

La Cale

In Blainville-sur-Mer, there’s sun, sea, seabirds – and La Cale, a kind of ‘beached beach bar’ just a few yards from the sea.  It’s rather difficult to conjure up its eccentric appearance (quirky comes to mind) and the service is, well, relaxed to say the least!  Enjoy simple but excellent cuisine, as you paddle in the sea. What a laugh!

Top tip: Head to La Cale for one of its many concerts over the summer featuring local bands, there’s a great atsmophere!

Open every day in high season and weekends only in low season - other information can be found on Facebook

4.

La Fabrique

In the seaside resort of Lion-sur-Mer you’ll find La Fabrique, a chic, industrial-themed bar with stunning panoramic views of the sea. Take full advantage of this bar’s relaxed vibes and come here to party mid-week or end the week in style!

Top tip: Be sure to book an area overlooking the sea for all your partying needs, whether its casual drinks, a birthday party, etc. and guarantee those front row seats to an incredible sunset.

5.

Bar o mètre

On the beach at Dieppe is a place with an interesting name, the Bar o mètre, a friendly and peaceful spot overlooking the sea. Set right up against the cliffs, so it doesn’t matter where you sit, the view will be amazing!

Top tip: Depending on the temperature, we recommend you warm yourself up with one of the Bar o mètre’s signature hot chocolates or indulge in a refreshing cocktail.
