Verneuil-sur-Avre

Towns and villages of character

Pets accepted
Spared by the bombings during the Second World War, Verneuil-sur-Avre has lots of character. Its religious character is shown through St Madeleine's Church with its 56-metre-high Flamboyant Gothic tower and St Jean's and St Nicolas' Churches. The groups of Norman half-timbered houses and the elegant 18th century townhouses provide the town with even more charm. The Tour Grise is a medieval keep built by Philip II of France with "grison" stone, a red stone typical of the area. Guided tours are organized on specified dates.
